Installing ENERGY STAR certified triple-pane windows saves you money on your energy bill and reduces greenhouse gas emissions. The Department of Energy estimates that you can save $125 to $465 per year just by installing new windows with higher ENERGY STAR ratings.

Installing ENERGY STAR certified windows will not only reduce your energy bill by an average of 12% per year, but it will also stop cold air from leaking out in the summer and keep heat in during the winter. ENERGY STAR windows increase your home’s comfort year-round and can even reduce UV sun damage to floors, drapes, sentimental photographs and furniture.

Energy-efficient windows are created by putting sheets of glass together with spacers. These multi-layers have air pockets between the panes, which are sealed shut and prevent air from entering or escaping. Once this is complete, the windows are filled with argon, krypton, and other gases, all of which are non-toxic, odorless, and colorless to increase their efficiency.

How We Can Help

Eversource and United Illuminating (UI) are offering a $100 rebate per window for each window replaced with an ENERGY STAR certified triple-pane window.

Refer to the How to Apply for a Rebate and Who is Eligible sections below or call 877-WISE-USE (877-947-3873) for more information.

  1. Purchase ENERGY STAR triple-pane windows with a U-Value of less than or equal to 0.20.
  2. Truthfully and accurately complete a 2022 ENERGY STAR Triple-Pane Replacement Window Rebate Application.
  3. Include a copy of your dated contractor itemized invoice.
  4. Include a copy of the National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC) label from each replacement window.
  5. If the rebate will be assigned to the Contractor, the Contractor must include a completed W9 form.
  6. Mail your completed Rebate Package to: EFI-CT 2022 Rebate, P.O. Box 2528, Manchester, CT 06045

Windows in new and old homes are candidates for replacement. Older homes built before the 1980’s usually have single-paned wood windows, which are very inefficient. These windows decrease the overall comfort of your home and increase your energy bills due to air leaks from cracks or disintegrating putty. Even if your home is only 15-25 years old, new windows might be worth the investment. You should at least be making repairs regularly, which might include adding insulation, fixing drafts, or repairing cracks in the frames, but you will need to replace the entire unit eventually. If your home has vinyl or aluminum windows, these can’t be repaired or restored, because they are all one piece. You will need to update these types of windows entirely.

All Eversource and UI residential customers with electrically, natural gas, oil or propane heated homes may be eligible for a rebate towards the purchase of Energy Star Triple-Pane Replacement Windows. Eligible measure(s) must be purchased by December 31, 2022.

Limit: One rebate per residential electric, and/or natural gas account in Eversource or UI. Windows must be installed within the Eversource or UI service areas. Only the Companies’ customers are eligible for these rebates. This rebate may not be combined with any other utility rebate. This rebate may be subject to change without prior notice. The Companies and energy efficiency providers reserve the right to conduct field inspections to verify measure installations.
